The Physics Association 2026–27 was officially inaugurated by Dr. Hari Varma R, Professor, School of Physical Sciences, IIT Mandi, on 21-07-2026 at T. B. Ninan Hall.
The programme began with a prayer song by second year degree student Ms. Darsitha . Dr. Madhu K, the faculty in charge of association welcomed the gathering and shared with the audience his personal connection with Dr. Hari Varma.
Dr. Rakhy Raphael , Head of the Department of Physics, Union Christian College, Aluva gave felicitations. Last year’s final year B.Sc student Anathakrishnan K H who topped the CUSAT PG Entrance was felicitated. Ms. Keerthana K.K , third year degree student representative introduced the speaker Dr. Hari Varma R to the audience.
The inaugural address was followed by an engaging presentation by Dr. Hari Varma R on his research topic, “Inter Cluster Coulombic Decay.” Using the example of Neon atoms, he explained the concept with the help of graphs, illustrations, and simple analogies, making the complex subject accessible to the audience. He also introduced the students to the academic environment at IIT Mandi and highlighted the various opportunities available there for higher studies, internships, and research.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which students and faculty members actively participated by asking questions and clearing their doubts on the topics presented.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Aparna H Verma, a first-year undergraduate student, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, faculty members, students, and everyone who contributed to the success of the programme.
The inauguration concluded with refreshments for all the participants. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation, an inspiring scientific talk, and meaningful interaction between the speaker and the audience
